naomiWhat are your child’s favorite summertime activities? Most children enjoy playing outside, reading in a hammock, going to camp, or taking vacations. Students at Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA) stay busy all summer long. One of GCA’s students, Naomi Blanks, is having an especially successful summer break!

Naomi is an avid tennis player and is currently ranked number one in her age division for the state of Georgia and fifth in the entire Southern region. She has been playing tennis since she was in kindergarten when her teacher asked her to complete a “What I Want to Be When I Grow Up” project in class.  Naomi’s parents were surprised to learn that she wanted to be a tennis player since she had never taken lessons before. They quickly enrolled her in lessons and she has excelled at the sport ever since.

According to Naomi’s mother, she is also a bright and hardworking student. Naomi just completed her first year at GCA, along with her older sister. The family likes the challenge of the online curriculum in addition to the flexibility to work at one’s own pace. Naomi and her sister, who is also a tennis player, complete their coursework and then head off to practice each afternoon.

Naomi will be recognized for her tennis skills at the BB&T Open this month. Way to go, Naomi!
