Kadin Oliva, a rising 12th grader at Wisconsin Virtual Academy (WIVA), is currently taking art classes at his local brick and mortar high school.
“I do my school work when it works best for me,” Kadin said. “My advisors schedule my classes around my art classes!”
Kadin has always been artistic and inventive. He enrolled at WIVA last year just before starting his junior year, as he needed a school that would provide him with more personalized attention.
“Kadin’s first year at WIVA was a pleasant surprise,” said his father, Rob Oliva. “You always get concerned going outside the comfort zone and trying something new. However, Kadin needed a change to feel less anxious in school. With WIVA, I believe students receive more one-on-one interaction than in brick and mortar school. All of the educators we have worked with are exceptional. Each understands the importance of making a child feel comfortable and accomplished.”
Kadin also believes schooling online with WIVA has taught him how to be productive and independent.
His long-term plan is to attend a four-year college and earn a degree in art education with a master’s in ceramics. He hopes to work as a professional ceramicist and a K-12 art instructor one day. Judging from these masterpieces, it appears Kadin is well on his way toward that impressive goal!
