Chloe McSwain performs the National Anthem at an Atlanta Braves game.
“And now, from the Georgia Cyber Academy, Chloe McSwain!”
After this welcoming introduction boomed over the loudspeakers at Turner Field, GCA’s own rising star began her beautiful rendition of the National Anthem at an Atlanta Braves game on Friday, July 15th.
“It was a surreal experience,” Chloe said. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity.” Chloe, a rising 11th grader from Cumming, Georgia, was invited to sing at the Braves game after a recruiter noticed her talent at her GCA graduation performance.
Chloe started with GCA in the fourth grade after deciding the flexible schedule of an online school would fit her intense performance schedule. This fall, Chloe will focus on her school work and train individually by taking dance and voice classes on the weekends.
She is looking forward to taking English, her favorite subject, and Spanish through GCA next year, as she believes it will help her with the Hispanic roles she will play in future performances.
Some GCA students and families even attended the game and showed their support for Chloe!
“I was very proud,” Tiffany McSwain, Chloe’s mother, said. “It was brave of her because there was a boatload of people there.” Chloe even admitted that she had no idea how big the venue was, and that she had “never sung in front of that many people before.”
This summer, Chloe will continue her busy performance schedule, as she sings at a sneak-peak preview promotional event for the new musical, The Prom, this Wednesday. She will also perform at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia on August 14th as part of the Broadway Dreams Foundation Summer Intensive.
Chloe currently has a list of 30 colleges that she is interested in attending for academics and performing arts, and is most seriously considering Baldwin Wallace University and Carnegie Mellon University, among others.
