On February 15, students and teachers from Destinations Career Academy of Colorado (CODCA) spent the day at the Colorado State Capitol building in Denver with state officers from Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) to help promote Career Technical Education (CTE). During CTE Day at the Capitol, attendees had a chance to hear from State Representatives Hugh McKean and Phil Covarrubias, to sit in on legislative sessions and to network. The students also participated in a service learning project benefitting the Denver Food Bank.
CTE equips students with real-world skills, which will help them succeed in the workforce and future endeavors. CTE attempts to close the workforce skills gap by exposing students to a wide variety of potential career paths. CODCA offers students an extensive CTE curriculum with six career pathways: Agriculture, Business Management and Administration, Health Science, Information Technology, Marketing and STEM.
