With graduation and end-of-the-year celebrations, June is typically a month to celebrate accomplishments, but K12 makes sure that it’s also a time to recognize the incredible work of school leaders and teachers! On June 5, 2018, K12 hosted the inaugural Leaders and Teachers of the Year Awards celebration at the company’s headquarters in Herndon, Virginia.

The daylong festivities consisted of group tours to various departments, an awards ceremony and luncheon, video interviews, and a mix-and-mingle event at a local restaurant. Twelve recipients – six teachers and six school leaders – were selected out of a competitive pool for these prestigious honors.

At the awards ceremony, guests were greeted with inspiring remarks from Kevin P. Chavous, K12’s President of Academics, Policy, and Schools. Chavous reminded the attendees that, “we’re not just school, we’re K12.” Award recipients also heard from a panel of K12 executives who spoke about the innovations and endeavors of K12’s future.

“Teach360 and Lead360 are so honored to celebrate our 2018 K12 Teacher and Leader of the Year Award winners,” said A.J. Tyvand, Manager of Teacher Experience for K12’s Teach360. “It was a pleasure reviewing all the nominations and seeing firsthand the impact our teachers and leaders are making. These award winners are exceptional examples of the quality people at our K12 partner schools.”

The award recipients represent the best-of-the-best in the K12 partner school network and have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to successfully supporting students and families. Congratulations to the teachers and leaders who were recognized!
