120 students graduate from Youth Connection Charter School Online High School

As promised, a follow up to a previous post about Youth Connection Charter School and their 2011 graduating class: 

Youth Connection Charter School (YCCS) Virtual High School, a school designed to get struggling students on the path to success, hosted its second commencement of the graduating class of 2011 on June 17 at the Arturo Velazquez Institute.  120 students, many of which were prior high school drop outs, or struggling students, donned traditional caps and gowns today marking the completion of their high school requirements and for many, just a necessary step towards their college career.

Tiffany’s Tips for a Smart Summer

Summertime and the livin’ is easy!  I am so excited to get out and play!  I am working near WashingtonImage: Rawich / FreeDigitalPhotos.net D.C. so I am planning on spending free time taking advantage of the historical sites!  Of course I will be checking out the beach as well, hoping to get a tan and see the scenery, perhaps learn a little about the tides and the animals, all sorts of wonderful things!  What sorts of things do you like to do in the summer?  I know that for me, summer was always a time to play, and be lazy, but I also loved learning new things, reading books, enjoying the science and history all around me.  Hey, why not?  Summer is the most fun time to learn because you don’t have the pressure of classes and deadlines, you can do whatever you like and just enjoy keeping your mind busy by finding out more about it as you go!  Here are some tips for fun ways to keep your mind active through the summer time:

K¹² Kids are Amazing: California Virtual Academy Student Danielle W.

A big congratulations to California Virtual Academy student, Danielle W. who is one of eight girls representing the United States at the China Girls Math Olympiad in July.

According to their website, "The 2011 China Girls Mathematical Olympiad is a competition originally established as a regional competition for teams of female high school students from China and other eastern Asian countries (including Russia). Several years ago China expanded the competition to countries from around the world, with the USA, Canada, South Africa, and Australia among the invitees.
