The K12 Hackathon is in full swing! The Hackathon invites employees to work together on creative business solutions.
“K12’s Hackathon is an opportunity to bring new perspectives to emerging business goals,” said Suzie Hastie, K12’s Senior Director of Product Development, who sits on the Hackathon Steering Committee. “People get out of their comfort zones, work collaboratively, and share their ideas in a new way.”
In keeping with K12’s mission to transform learning for students served, this year’s theme focuses on student success, by “Reimagining K12’s Virtual Education Experience”. Projects will address a number of organizational priorities, including career readiness, safety in the virtual classroom, measuring student success, and mobile learning.
Previous K12 Hackathons have focused largely on product development, and several of the tools used by K12-powered students and teachers were innovated as result of successful projects. Last year’s winning hack was to enhance LearnBop, K12’s award-winning math program!
“It’s exciting to be part of a company that is open to these kinds of opportunities,” said Suzie. “This is a chance for employees from across the K12 family to innovate and get engaged in other parts of the business.”
The Hackathon invites employees from across K12 to participate. All teams will demo their projects in-person in Herndon or virtually on Friday, June 29th. Good luck!
