June 8th is World Oceans Day
World Oceans Day is a day to learn about ocean conservation and how the future of ocean conservation is in the hands of young people around the world. This year, each participating zoo or aquarium will host family events with a 1, 2, 3 and the Seas theme, with the goal of encouraging children of all ages to creatively examine how numbers and counting play an important role in protecting our oceans.
As a proud partner of the AZA, K12's Rhythm of Conservation program is helping elevate the awareness of conservation efforts through positive, optimistic messages and information to inspire families to become personally involved in making a difference.
To encourage more families to learn how they play a part in conservation efforts, we created the The Rhythm of Conservation Sweepstakes. The grand prize winner will win a trip for four to Walt Disney World® and another winner will win a prize package containing a NOOK TabletTM, LeapPad, Zoo or aquarium membership, and $100 of K12 merchandise!
If you visit a participating zoo or aquarium on June 8th, World Oceans Day, make sure to look for the K12 Rhythm of Conservation poster. You will find a code and number listed on the poster. If you text in the code, you will receive 12 additional entries into our K12 Rhythm of Conservation sweepstakes.
Make sure to make a family date on June 8th to head to one of the many participating zoos and aquariums to learn about conservation and how we all play a part. To find one near you, visit the
Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
