Each year, new and experienced families attend our popular in-person events around the country where they learn more about online education, meet our dedicated and experienced teachers and staff, and of course, have some fun with other local families.

On Thursday, April 19th, Colorado Virtual Academy held a COVA Science Fair & Discovery Day at a local The Wildlife Experience. 459 families, including new and soon to be COVA families, attended this event -  with one family traveling over 3.5 hours one way from the Western Slope to attend! Now that's impressive!

COVA parent Kristin Arnold, whose daughter has been with the school for 3 years, shared her experience after attending this great event.

As we made our way into the Science Fair exhibit area, we headed right to the 6th grade row to check out what our daughter's virtual classmates had submitted for their experiments. We are always impressed by the awesome creativity and effort the COVA students have put into their projects, and this year was no exception.  WOW!   It is exciting to see COVA students, Elementary, Middle School and High School, share the results of their experiment with such enthusiasm and pride.   We are already looking forward to next year's COVA Science Fair!

One of the reasons that we decided to school at home was to provide individualized instruction and more opportunities for "experiential" learning....Field Trips!   Our most recent outing was to the COVA Science Fair & Discovery Day at the Wildlife Experience in Lone Tree, CO.  From the minute we walked in and approached the check in table we could feel the school spirit!  This is the third year that we have attended this event and each time has been an opportunity to meet new friends, connect with the COVA staff and at this event, we even saw kiddos getting their picture taken with the COVA mascot, Cooper the Cougar!

There are many different types of events available and many of them are open to interested and newly enrolled families. In-person events are a great way to meet and talk with school staff and teachers and learn more about online public school options directly from the people that will be helping you along the way. They can also be a great opportunity to meet other local famlies and begin to create your own support system comprised of fellow online school families.

If you are looking for more information about online education options, make sure to attend one of the many local events.  You can find a list of the events happening near you by visiting K12.com and finding a school near you or by simply visiting that particular school's website.
