Does Your Child Have What It Takes To Be the Next JEOPARDY Champ?

Photo Credit: JoeDuck on FlickrPeople who know me well know that I’m a trivia buff, and JEOPARDY! has always been one of my favorite shows. Each year, JEOPARDY! hosts an online test for those who are interested in being on the show, and it’s a test I never miss!

This year, the online test for JEOPARDY! Kids is being held on Wednesday, October 5th at various times during the day, depending on which time zone you’re in. There is usually only one per year, so don’t miss out on this chance for your child to qualify as a JEOPARDY! Kids contestant.

There are a few important things to know if your child would like to try out for the show. Follow these simple steps to give your child a chance to appear on JEOPARDY!

  1. First, you must register your child for the test on the JEOPARDY! website. Be sure to review the FAQ’s and applicable rules.
     
  2. Once your child is registered, you should receive information via email about the date and time of the test. Add this to your calendar so you don’t forget!
     
  3. Be sure to check out the Sample Test on the signup page so your child knows what to expect from the test.
     
  4. On the date of the test, your child will need to log in to the JEOPARDY! website with the link provided during signup. Sign in 10-15 minutes before the test is scheduled to begin to ensure that your computer is working properly. There is a countdown timer that indicates when the test will start, so don’t stray too far from the computer while waiting.

The test generally consists of 50 questions, and each question allows 15 seconds for an answer. The questions come at you quickly, so make sure your child is prepared to type an answer and click submit.

Although nobody knows for sure, it’s generally assumed that people who score a 35/50 or higher are eligible to be invited for a tryout. Fun fact: When I was in college, I did well on the online test and was invited for an audition in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the audition was during finals week, and I never made it to L.A.
